IBM Sign

Well I’ve been in Texas for a week now, and I guess it’s about that time I actually start working. To catch everyone up on my situation, I’m still working for IBM, but my job role and the department I’ll be working in have both changed quite a bit. I’m excited for the opportunity to try something new though, and I’m pumped that I’ll get to work with some newer technologies.

I’ll start things off with a little “back to school” picture since I was bored last week and actually went out and bought some new work clothes. Just like going back to school…

Day #1

Next up we’ve got to share some pictures of the IBM campus. Things are much different here than back in Poughkeepsie. For starters there are actually people in all the buildings (as far as I know), and there are so many cars in the parking lot that we’ve actually got two 5 (or 6?) story parking garages. On top of that, I work on the 8th floor! I don’t think any buildings in Poughkeepsie have over 3 or 4 floors. Not that I disliked Poughkeepsie, but there’s something about the “life” on this campus that makes it feel like I’m working for a completely different company…

Next up I’ve got to brag about the XBOX / Kinect / Big screen setup that we’ve got going on in our conference area. Something that probably isn’t that surprising in most technology companies, but I can brag because I was one of the ones petitioning to get a setup like this in my old department. The funny part… I haven’t played once since I’ve started…

Oh yea, and last but not least…. We have these sweet Star Wars figurines setup in the break area. Kinda nerdy, but they add to the environment…

So this is where I work now! Austin’s been quite the experience so far. I definitely see why everyone is so big on this little city in Texas. I’ll try my best to get the post/pictures of my new apartment up soon!

Thanks for following my journey!
